Tradetrek offers the Index Center as a useful snapshot of overall market sentiment. An index is a statistical composite providing the performance of a market or a sector. There are a variety of indices in the US that cover different securities markets and sectors, such as the well-known Dow Jones Index, S&P 500 index, and the NASDAQ index. Tradetrek's Index Center not only offers you more complete coverage of the US stock markets it also has built in functionalities which are able to calculate index performances over various time periods.

Content Highlights:
1. How do I access the Index Center?
2. How do I find a specific index within the Center?
3. How do I use the Index Center to help me analyze the stock market?

How do I access the Index Center?

How do I find a specific index within the Center?

In the Index Center you can sort the market indices by Alphabet or Category. This makes it easy for you to find not only domestic indices but international indices too. The Index Center covers the majority of the 'important' indices from the various stock exchanges such as AMEX indices, NASDAQ indices, and NYSE indices, as well as companies such as Dow Jones indices and S&P indices. You will notice that we have created three additional categories: "Major Indices" contains the most useful indices while DJ Sector and DJ International cover stock sectors and international markets, respectively. We added this for the maximum convenience and ease for you, the user.

How do I use the Index Center to help me analyze the stock market?

An index is a statistical measure of the changes in a portfolio of stocks representing a portion of an overall market. The information gathered and presented in the Index Center offers you the opportunity to develop powerful and useful analysis of the stock markets and sectors performances.

You can click the button to view indices returns for different time periods. The related data is effectively presented all on the same page in one table. The table displays Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly, Yearly, and Year-to-Date returns. See Figure 3 for a visual display of the table. This functionality allows you to see index performances for different time periods and simultaneously lets you compare many different index performances. By reviewing the returns, you can begin to figure out which market or sector is a long-term performer or a short-term momentum sector. This in turn will help you with your investment strategies.

The Index Center will supplement your research by providing you with an overall look at the trends in the market. You will soon realize this feature is an excellent point of reference for determining performances of various sectors and markets.
